These dimmable light bulbs can be used in non dimmable applications or in dimmable applications.  Mostly dimmable light bulbs are needed in recessed lighting fixtures but there are also other fixtures that could benefit from these special bulbs.   If you need a different type of compact fluorescent, take another look at the major catagories of compact fluorescent light bulbs.
