General Questions:

I don’t see the light bulb that I need for my application.  Do you have other products not on the web?

We have access to the entire line of Philips lighting and stock hundreds of their bulbs.  Please contact us and let us know what you are looking for.  We are happy to quote you a price and stock status.  This also helps us know what product offerings we need to have to serve our customer’s needs.  So thank you for the feedback!

Do your light bulbs contain mercury?

Incandescent and Halogen ligh bulbs do NOT contain mercury.  Compact Fluorescent and some HID light bulbs do contain mercury.  If this a concern for you, choose a light bulb that is made with "ALTO" technology.  These light bulbs contain the mercury content that the government suggests or less.  One each product description page, you will see the mercury content of each light bulb if it contains any.  And it will also tell you if an item is made with "ALTO" technology.

Can I use CFL light bulbs with a dimmer switch?

It is very important to determine if the compact fluorescent light bulbs you are using are made to be dimmable or not!  If you use a regular compact fluorescent light bulb in a system with a dimmer switch you will burn your bulbs out prematurely.  There are a couple of ways you can go.  Either purchase a cfl bulb that is designed to be dimmable or switch out your switch from a dimmer switch to a regular on/off switch.

All Halogen light bulbs are dimmable and provide a better alternative to incandescent light bulbs in recessed lighting.  The biggest problem is that they still put out a fair amount of heat and sometimes that's not what you want, especially in a kitchen where there is already a great amount of heat.

What Compact Fluorescent Light Bulb would I use to replace my current regular 40/60/75/100 Watt Incandescent Light Bulb?

In general, customers choose Mini-Deco Twister compact fluorescent light bulbs to replace regular A type incandescent light bulbs.  What you want to compare is the initial lumens  So, say if you normally put a 75 watt incandescent light bulb (1150 initial lumens) in your lamps around your home, you should look at the 18 Watt Mini Deco Twister compact Fluorescent (1250 initial lumens).  Forget about wattage and realize it's all about the lumens.  You will be able to see the initial lumens on each individual product page.

What does PAR_?_ mean?

The number after PAR indicates how many 1/8" the diameter is equal to.  IE. "ED-37 indicates a large HID bulb having a diameter of 37/8" or 4 5/8".

Will Light Bulb Market ever carry LED light bulbs?

Light Bulb Market is currently selling LED light bulbs in the powercore family.  We will offer more and more as Philips produces them and the prices are competitive.

What is the best way to change a halogen bulb?

There is no special way necessary to change a halogen.  Quartz bulbs are a different story.  But halogen bulbs don't need to be handled with gloved hands.

Indoor/Outdoor.....what do I need to use where?

It is important to make sure that your fixture as well as your light bulb is made to take weather.  That is if you plan to place the fixture where it will get direct rain.  For example, a fixture made to light a flag.  Lots of bulbs are made with indoor/outdoor usage.  They will be indicated as such in the description.  You can use indoor light bulbs in outdoor fixtures if it won't take any direct weather.  For example, a sconce that is on either side of a front door normally won't get much weather and a regular indoor bulb can be used.

How should I dispose of a compact fluorescent (CFL) light bulb?

The EPA recommends that you take advantage of your local recycling programs.  If your state allows you to dispose of them in the garbage, simply wrap them in two plastic bags and place in the trash.  Compact Fluorescents should not be placed in an incinerator.  You can contact your local waste collection company for other options or go directly to the Federal EPA website find local recycling programs for compact fluorescents.  We have also written a brief article on the big picture of recycling of mercury content light bulbs.  These don't just include CFLs but also include most HID lamps and fluorescent tubes.

What are your shipping rates and methods?

All orders shipped within the continental US with a flat shipping rate of $9.50 and will be shipped via UPS Ground.  Expedited shipping can be chosen.  2nd Day would be an additional $32.01 and Next Day would be an additional $78.04.

How long will it take for me to get my light bulbs?

In general all orders are shipped within 2 days of receiving the order.  Many times the order will be shipped the same day an order is placed. If you need an order to go out same day, it's not a bad idea to give us a call to insure your item(s) is/are in stock.

UPS shipments take 1 to 2 days for OR/WA area, 2 to 4 days to get to CA, 3 to 5 TX and mid US.  If you live in the South or the East Coast or North East, UPS takes a full 5 days to deliver.  If your order ships within 2 days, we do not generally put your tracking number on our website but if you need it, let us know and we can look it up for you.  If your order ships out late, we do include all of those tracking numbers in the track your order section.

If an item is a special order item with Philips, it will take 2 weeks to come in from the factory and then additional ship time will be needed to get to you.  We do however, receive and turn those orders around in the same day.

What are your payment options?

We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, Paypal, Money Order or Company Check.  Money Orders and Company Checks should be written to "Lee Group Marketing" and sent to Light Bulb Market, 6614 Sherwood Drive, Knoxville, TN  37919 and must include your order number or a copy of your order placed.

How do I get my case discount to show up in my shopping cart?

When you are in a specific product screen, in the middle section of the page towards the top left, you will see "SKU" and "Order by" and "Quantity".  In the Order By area there is a drop down box that allows you to order by each or by the case.  The case discounts are automatically calculated here and to get that discount, you should order by the case.  And then quantity is how many cases you'd like to order.

What does ordering by "each" mean?

Some bulbs like candelabra bulbs are priced by "each" but sold as a set of 2 and sometimes a set of 4.  If you want to order by the case to obtain the case discount, choose ordering by the case as stipulated above.

What does "not availble in this price set" mean?

When you have saved a link to products that have been discontinued, you will still be able to see those products but you will get the "not available in this price set" message when the item is no longer available for purchase.
